The cruise terminal for Glasgow is situated to the west of the city on the estuary known as the Firth of Clyde. This makes for convenient access to the golf courses of Ayrshire.

This fertile coastal strip that runs along Scotland’s southwest shores is home to some of the Worlds most revered courses, Ailsa Turnberry, Royal Troon Old Course, and Prestwick Old Course to name a few. These courses however allow only limited, mostly midweek, access for visitors and inevitably they come at a premium.

However, there are many other wonderful private clubs that welcome visitors with open arms, and 7 days a week. Prestigious links such as The Gailes, Dundonald Links, Prestwick St Nicholas, Royal Troon Portland, Barasie Links and Western Gailes. Worth considering, and superb value, are the courses at Rowallan Castle, Prestwick St Cuthbert and Irvine Bogside.

Transfer time to most courses is around 1 hour each way so you need to be disembarking your cruise ship at Greenock for 8am and leaving for your next port-of-call no earlier than 5 pm to enjoy 18 holes, a refreshment after the game and return to your cruise ship.
