The Royal Marine Hotel and Links apartments, Brora €€€
Located in the small highland town of Brora 1 hour north of Inverness, The Royal Marine Hotel dates back to the very early part of the 20th century when the original mansion house was built by Sir Robert Lorimer. At the end of the century an extension was added while very recently some contemporary modern apartments and villas were built. The Links Apartments and villas overlook James Braids’ superb golf course at Brora while the hotel is a just a few hundred yards from the first tee. If your taste is for a traditional country house, stay in the hotel, if you prefer more contemporary independent living, the apartments and villas are a better choice with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and kitchen facilities in each. You are of course free to use the restaurant and bar options of the nearby hotel.

Located at the southern end of the legendary Isle of Skye on Scotland’s magnificent West coast. The island is accessed by a free road bridge at the northern end and a car ferry at the south.
The Eagle Hotel, Dornoch €€
Located on the high street of the small animated highland village of Dornoch, the Eagle is a friendly pub with rooms rather than a stuffy hotel. As well as good selection of ales and whiskies the bar serves tasty homecooked local dishes both lunchtime and evenings when you may be witness to some impromptu local musical talent The small number of en suite rooms ( all named after highland malts) are simple but comfortable ( wide and comfortable double king size beds) ideal for golfers looking for single rooms at a reasonable cost. A full Scottish breakfast is served in the dedicated breakfast room each morning. A great base to explore the wonderful links golf in the highlands.
